GridScoop help: exports, missing rows and Pro
Short answer: Open a page with a table, click the GridScoop icon, pick a table and a format. If the file has fewer rows than the table, the grid is virtualized: click Capture full grid, keep the popup open until it finishes, then export. The free plan exports 300 rows a day; Pro removes that daily limit for $15 a year.
1. Install
- Open GridScoop on the Chrome Web Store and click Add to Chrome.
- To keep the icon in view, click the puzzle-piece icon in Chrome’s toolbar and pin GridScoop.
GridScoop asks for no access to your sites in advance: it reads a page only at the moment you click its icon, and the tables are processed inside your browser. There is no account.
2. Your first export
- Open a page with a table or a data grid and click the GridScoop icon. It scans the page and lists what it found, largest first (up to 50).
- Pick a table. A grid that only draws the rows on screen is marked virtualized, with a note that a plain export would miss most of its rows; for those, click Capture full grid first.
- Click a format: Excel, CSV, Copy for Sheets, Copy Markdown or JSON. With two or more tables on the page, All tables → Excel saves them all as one workbook.
The line under the header shows how many free rows you have left today.
3. The formats
| Button | What you get |
|---|---|
| Excel | An .xlsx file; numbers stay numbers. |
| CSV | A .csv file in UTF-8, so accented characters open correctly in Excel. |
| Copy for Sheets | The table on your clipboard, tab-separated: paste it into Google Sheets or Excel. |
| Copy Markdown | A Markdown table on your clipboard, for docs, wikis and AI chats. Row 1 becomes the header. |
| JSON | A .json file with one object per row and the header cells as keys. Repeated header names get a number added, so no column is lost. |
| All tables → Excel | One .xlsx workbook with one sheet per table on the page. Needs at least two tables. |
In CSV and Copy for Sheets, a cell that starts with =, +, - or @ and is not a number gets an apostrophe in front, so a spreadsheet shows it as text instead of running it as a formula.
4. The 300 free rows a day
- Every export costs its number of rows, the header row included. Each export counts on its own, so saving the same table as Excel and then as CSV counts twice.
- One export never costs more than 300, so any single table or grid, even one with 12,480 rows, exports in full once a day.
- All tables → Excel costs the rows of all the tables together, again at most 300.
- Capture full grid and Merge pages cost nothing: rows are counted only when you export.
- If an export does not fit into what is left, nothing is cut short. GridScoop opens its Pro screen instead, and you can run the same export again tomorrow.
- The allowance resets at midnight by your computer’s clock.
5. Common problems and fixes
My export has fewer rows than the table on the page
Most likely the grid is virtualized: to stay fast, the page builds only the rows on screen, so that is all an export can read. Select the table and click Capture full grid. GridScoop scrolls the grid by itself and stitches every batch into one table. Keep the popup open until it finishes, then export.
A full-grid capture stops at 100,000 rows, 4 million cells, 400 screens of the grid or 90 seconds, whichever comes first, and then says “stopped early” rather than handing you a short file quietly. A plain export without the capture reads at most 20,000 rows and warns you when it hits that limit. If the message says GridScoop could not reach the grid’s scroll area, the result holds only the rows that were visible. Some grids also draw only the columns on screen; GridScoop then exports the columns it can see and warns that some may be missing.
Capture full grid is greyed out
It is only needed for data grids and for tables that GridScoop marked as virtualized. On an ordinary table every row is already in the page, so a plain export already has them all.
Merge pages stops early, or says it couldn’t page through the table
Merge pages works with tables that change page in place, without reloading the whole page. It clicks the table’s own next-page control, adds each page to the first one, and goes up to 50 pages. It stops, keeping what it has, when the page reloads, when it arrives back at a page it has seen, or when the next page looks like a different table. “Couldn’t page through this table” means it found no next-page control that worked.
“No tables or grids on this page”
If the data sits inside a frame, right-click it, choose Open frame in new tab, and run GridScoop there. Grids built inside web components (a shadow root) are not scanned in version 1.0. Chrome’s own pages and the Chrome Web Store cannot be read by any extension. To use GridScoop on files opened from your computer, turn on Allow access to file URLs for GridScoop at chrome://extensions.
“This capture is too large for the clipboard” or “too large to build as one file”
Very large captures do not fit on the clipboard: use the Excel or CSV export instead. If even a single file is too large, try CSV, or export one table at a time instead of the whole page.
“This export needs … of today’s rows and you have … left”
The export would go over today’s free allowance, so GridScoop did not run it and nothing was spent. The allowance resets tomorrow, or Pro removes the daily limit.
6. Pro: buy, activate, cancel
Pro costs $15 a year ($1.25 a month) and renews yearly until you cancel. It removes the daily row allowance and nothing else changes: the features are the same as on the free plan, and the per-export limits (20,000 rows for a plain export, 100,000 for a full-grid capture) still apply.
Buy
- Click Get Pro · $15/yr at the top of the GridScoop popup, or use the pricing section of the product page. The secure checkout opens on our site.
- Pay. Checkout is run by Paddle, our Merchant of Record, which also sends your receipt; the charge may appear on your statement as Paddle.
- You land on a page showing your licence key, which starts with
GS-. Copy it, and keep that page’s link: it carries your order reference, so reopening it shows the key again. The key is not sent by email.
Activate
The key goes into the License key box on GridScoop’s Pro screen; paste it and click Activate. You see “Pro activated — thank you!” and the header button turns into Pro ✓.
To get to that screen, click Get Pro in the popup header (or the rows-left counter); in GridScoop 1.0.1 or later it opens the Pro screen.
If a checkout page opens instead, close it — don’t pay twice. Your copy is version 1.0.0, where the Pro screen with the key box appears only when an export needs more rows than you have left today. Chrome installs the fixed version (1.0.1) automatically within a few hours of its release, or email info@bilingoplus.com with your order number and we’ll activate it with you.
A GridScoop key works only in GridScoop. If activation says it cannot reach the licence server, check your connection and try again in a minute; that is not a problem with your key. Once active, GridScoop re-checks the key about once a week, sending only the key, the extension’s ID and its version. Offline, Pro keeps working for up to 30 days, but only until the end of the period you paid for (plus a short grace for renewals).
Lost your key?
Reopen the purchase page from the link you kept; it shows the key again. If you no longer have the link, email info@bilingoplus.com with the email address you paid with, or the order reference from your Paddle receipt, and we will send the key.
Cancel
Cancel any time from the link in your Paddle receipt, or by emailing us. Renewal stops, Pro keeps working to the end of the year you paid for, and then you are back on the free plan. Nothing you exported is affected.
Refund
You can ask for a refund within 14 days of any charge, including a renewal, for any reason; see the Refund Policy. We cancel the subscription when we issue the refund, so nothing renews; access to the paid plan ends within about a week, the next time the product checks your licence or subscription. The free plan keeps working. If you only want to stop the renewal, cancel instead.
