Google Slides™ translation add-ons compared (October 2026)
Short answer: There is no single best Google Slides translator — the add-ons differ in what they translate (speaker notes, tables, text in images), which engine they use, whether they overwrite your deck or make a new one, how much is free, and how much of your Drive they can see. The table below lists seven add-ons exactly as their Google Workspace™ Marketplace listings describe them on 16 October 2026.

The comparison table
“As listed” means the wording or number comes from the add-on’s own listing. Where a listing doesn’t say something, the cell says so.

Translate Slides with AI (ours)
Rewrites the presentation you have open, in place, in one pass. One AI engine runs on our account, so there is no API key and no second sign-up. Every request carries a translation QA checklist, the AI is told to stay close to the original length, and per-word styling (bold, colours, links) comes through; very heavily styled boxes fall back to the box’s main style. An optional Prompt / context field takes your own instructions — tone, glossary, a regional variety. Permissions: only the presentation the add-on is used in. Limits, honestly: it overwrites the file (make a copy first), one language per run, no text in images, and the slide text is sent to OpenRouter for translation (privacy policy).
Slides Translator (Automagical Apps)
The broadest feature list of the group: three engines to choose from, speaker notes, and the only listing here that says it translates text inside images. It can also show the translation in a sidebar without changing the deck. Its listing asks for wide access, including seeing, editing, creating and deleting all your Google Slides presentations.
Translate My Slide (Joey Bronner)
Single slides or whole decks, with speaker notes, through the Google Translate API, and DeepL for premium users. The free version has a daily quota whose size the listing doesn’t give. Its permission list includes all your Google Slides presentations and all your Google Sheets™ spreadsheets.
Slide Translato (Slides & Forms Translation)
Writes the translation into a new deck in your Drive instead of changing the original, and can translate into several languages in one run. The free trial covers three slides per deck; the listing’s paid plan is $14.99 for a month.
Slides Translator – Translate whole Slides 1 click
A simple free add-on that translates the whole deck or one slide through Google Translate. The listing warns that being signed in to several Google accounts in one browser can leave its sidebar blank.
Translate Slides with Speaker Notes (CodeAddon)
Focused on notes: it can replace them or place the translation below the original for bilingual presenting. Like ours, it asks only for access to the current presentation. 50 free slide translations on install.
Slides to Spanish+ (AliceKeeler LLC)
Made by teachers for classrooms: it creates a translated copy per language, so the original is untouched. The listing itself says translations should be checked and font sizes may need adjusting, that mixed formatting inside a text box is not kept, and that slides with non-default dimensions are not supported.
How to choose
- Text inside images matters (flyers, screenshots, diagrams saved as pictures): Slides Translator by Automagical Apps is the only listing here that says it handles it.
- You want DeepL: Slides Translator (Automagical Apps) and Translate My Slide (premium) list it; Slide Translato names it among its engines.
- Several languages at once: Slide Translato and Slides to Spanish+ create one deck per language. With the others, make a copy per language.
- The original must stay untouched: Slide Translato and Slides to Spanish+ write to a new deck; with in-place add-ons (ours included), use File → Make a copy first.
- Smallest permissions: per the permission lists on the listings, the only file Translate Slides with AI and Translate Slides with Speaker Notes can open is the presentation they are used in; the others ask for access to all your Google Slides presentations.
- Your own instructions (formal tone, glossary, “Latin American Spanish”): Translate Slides with AI has a Prompt / context field; none of the other listings mention one.
- Bilingual speaker notes: Translate Slides with Speaker Notes lists a mode that keeps the original note and adds the translation below it.
Whatever you pick, try it on a copy of a real deck — one with a table, a grouped diagram and some bold words — and compare the result side by side before you trust it with a deck that matters.
If you don’t want an add-on
Google Slides has no built-in translate feature for a presentation, but there are free ways without installing anything: copy-paste through Google Translate, upload the deck as .pptx to Google Translate’s document translator, or move the text through Google Docs “Translate document”. Steps, pros and cons are in How to translate Google Slides (3 ways).
Questions
What is the best Google Slides translator add-on?
It depends on the deck. For text inside images, Slides Translator by Automagical Apps is the only listing that claims it; for several languages in one run, Slide Translato or Slides to Spanish+; for minimal permissions and your own instructions, Translate Slides with AI. Test any of them on a copy first.
Is there a DeepL add-on for Google Slides?
Several add-ons list DeepL as an engine: Slides Translator by Automagical Apps, Translate My Slide on its premium plan, and Slide Translato. Translate Slides with AI uses an AI model via OpenRouter, not DeepL.
Which Google Slides translation add-ons are free?
All seven here can be installed at no cost, with different limits as listed on 16 October 2026: 100 slides a month (Translate Slides with AI), 200 slides to start plus 100 a month (Slides Translator by Automagical Apps), a daily quota (Translate My Slide), 3 slides per deck (Slide Translato), 50 slides on install (Translate Slides with Speaker Notes), and no stated limit for the other two.
Do translation add-ons translate speaker notes?
Most do. Translate Slides with AI, Slides Translator by Automagical Apps, Translate My Slide, Slide Translato and Translate Slides with Speaker Notes all list speaker notes; the other two listings don’t mention them.
Are Google Slides translation add-ons safe?
Check two things on the listing before installing: the Permissions tab (some add-ons can see and edit all your presentations, others only the one you are working in) and the privacy policy, which says where your slide text is sent to be translated.
